I am new to the online AOE2 and I keep seeing that my scout gets killed by enemy town center. I am not talking about Scout rush scenario. Just that, my first scout is scouting his TC and then, he suddenly rings the bell and kills the scout. Sometimes, I escape, but most times the scout dies.
The question is, is this an accepted gameplay tactic? I never try this nor will I. Just wanted to know if this is fine with the general AOE pop.

Yes, this is a legit game element since 1999. TC has a base ballistics "intelligent projectiles" and it's much harder to avoid the arrows. It's suggested to once you see the TC by your scout's LoS, turn away instantly to avoid the danger.
